If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that…
I redesigned my website/blog.
This will actually be my fourth time redesigning it and by “redesign” I mean “using a new theme.” I was using Suits but it was way too bland for my taste. I’m now using Goran and I’m loving it.
I’m still toying with the options so you may see a few changes every now and then.
I don’t like this summer heat but…
I’m a winter person. I like the snow, rain, and chilly air which is unfortunate because none of that exists where I live.
On the bright side, I’ve finally found the time to read Rise of Empire by Michael J. Sullivan. I bought the book during the Christmas season so…it’s about time I’ve read it. So far, Sullivan hasn’t disappointed me and it’s a pretty good fantasy read in my opinion.
I’ve also “finished” reading Podcasting for Dummies by Tee Morris, Chuck Tomasi, and Evo Terra. I don’t think you can ever “finish” a book like this since it’s always something to have on reference, but I got what I needed out of it (I’m working on a review post so keep an eye out).
The summer heat also gives me a reason to eat a bunch of popsicles and spend more time outside. I guess it’s not all bad, huh?
I have “Writer’s Block,” but it ain’t stopping me.
When I say I have “writer’s block” it’s code for I’m stumped, lazy, confused, or discouraged. I’m suffering from the “stumped” kind right now but I’m working through it.
This week I wrote two short stories, outlined a third, penned a few poems, and edited Ruin. I submitted one of my poems into a competition and am editing one of the shorts for another competition. So I’d say I beat writer’s block this week.
Lesson:
Writer’s block isn’t an excuse to stop writing, it’s a call to action!

I change my blog’s theme on a monthly basis. I’m never happy with the way my blog looks.
Anyway, I wanted to say that’s good you’re writing even though you have a block. Sometimes just taking a break goes a long way. When you come back from your break you might feel refreshed. Plus, you might have something to write about!
I totally agree. Breaks are good so long as they’re not extended breaks (lol!). I did take a reading break which helped me out a bit.
I agree with you on summer. I prefer comfortable temperatures, but I would rather have winter than scolding summers. It gets very hot where I live. The winters are at least nice. Doesn’t get freezing temperatures much at all.
I’m past the stages of having any chance to get writer’s block. I’ve just been cleaning up my MS to send it to beta readers soon.
I know right! Summer would be so much better without the scorching heat. Hope your beta stage for your book goes well!

Writer’s block happens. Use a writing prompt and move on. That’s what I do. Great post for someone with writer’s block!

I seem to have a blockage from reading and answering posts. I am reading an early Maggodly story and it is uplifting my mood. Dummies books are really reference books. I have learned a lot from them.
To be honest, I was having a problem trying to figure out what I was going to post this week (good thing I remembered the “if we were having coffee” community).
Dummies books are great! Some of the topics never outlive their usefulness.
I love the lesson! Great way to look at writer’s block. Muscle through it and keep going!

Hello, fellow Winter lover! I always feel like I’m in the minority when I tell people that I’m not a fan of summer, and actually prefer cooler temperatures (and snow!), so it’s always nice to meet others who feel the same 🙂
For someone going through writer’s block, it sounds like you’re charging right through. Good luck on the submission! Keep writing!

Anyways, thanks. I’ve written a lot of short stories thanks to these writing competitions. Even if I don’t win them, I’m satisfied that they got me writing.
Such a beautiful and inviting latte! Cheers to moderate temperatures…no to any form of extreme weather for me…I don’t know how I am going to survive my first winter after nine years of none…many cups of lattes I suppose.
