Hectic, productive, eye opening, and oddly relaxing.

That’s what July has been for me. I got more done this month than I originally planned!
Lets see…
- I read and reviewed 2 books
- I participated in Camp NaNo and finished the first draft for my novel
- I finished the critical readthrough of my sci-fi novel
- I wrote a short story (first draft)
- I’m all set for classes
Looking ahead, I plan to…
- Read through Lantern
- Start the second draft of my sci-fi novel
- Finish editing my short story
- Start and finish a 4000 word short for a writing competition
- Read a book, a few shorts, and review them all
- I may cut my posting frequency down to twice a week (gotta keep myself school focused)
So…that’s what my August looks like.
A busy July, and sounds like a busy August as well! Good luck with it all 🙂
Thanks I’m going to need it! 😀
You have accomplished so much this month, and that on top of Camp. Way to go!
Thanks Maggie 🙂 I’m hoping I can do just as good in August.
Lots have been done, and lots to do.
I hope it all works out well.
Me to. I hope your month goes well for you as well. 🙂
Thank you.
Ugh, school! It’s coming around for me, too. I don’t know what I’m going to do, I post three times a week, currently, and with schoolwork (I’m taking a pretty heavy course load), I might just die if I keep blogging at my current rate. I think once or twice a week is a good amount. In fact, three times a week is probably manageable, BUT then I would lose the whole community aspect that I love about blogging, because I probably wouldn’t have time to leave long rambles on peoples’ blogs, as I am doing right now.
Your goals for August sound fun! I’m with you on the whole second-draft thing. This novel isn’t going to write itself! Even with NaNo it took me about a year to write Draft 1, and before that, the story was a concept for 2 years, with me hopping in and out of it, and sort-of-kind-of-not-really planning out character backstories and arcs. I wrote it through two camp sessions and NaNoWriMo. I basically planned out the entire novel in April, forgot the outline in July and got distracted by another idea, got through the bulk of it in November, busied myself with school, and then FINALLY finished it in April of the next year. So I’d say a month is pretty good. 😛
Oops, this turned into a really long comment… I’m going to keep quiet now. 😀
I don’t mind long comments…they just mean that you have a lot to share. 🙂
I’m taking a pretty big course load this semester too and, learning from last semester, I may not do all that well at staying with my usual “three posts a week” goal. I managed a little but…not that well. Oh! Not to mention that it was chore to find writing time. I don’t want my writing to suffer, or my studies, OR my blog.
As for my second draft. I’m not sure if I can finish it in a month BUT I am daring. Great practice for NaNoWriMo in November. Though I am writing another short this month and plan to have it edited asap (once it’s drafted). Along with my other editing goals…should be fun.
Now that I think about it…between writing and school I think the Tavern may get the short end of the stick 🙄
Ugh…well I’ll do my best!
Oh! Before I end this ridiculously long comment (it’s long enough for a blog post!) I just wanted to say that it’s inspiring to “hear” that you kept up with that NaNo novel despite the fact that things kept getting in way. Good luck with it! 🙂
